All proceeds for this show go to the Vermont disaster relief fund. Vermont farms have experienced serious losses as a result of hurricane Irene and they are in great need of some help. A quote from the Bangor Daily News in regards to the festival... "Headliner Michael Hurley of Oregon and local favorites the Toughcats packed the house at the Colonial Theatre."...We were very excited to be apart of the Belfast Free Range Music Festival this year. Such a great event, a ton of great music, very well run/organized and it included playing at the same venue and on the same stage as Michael Hurley...We are big fans of his songs and recordings. We also had the good fortune of seeing him in Biddeford at the Oak + the Axe (a great venue by the way) the night before and then enjoyed his set before we got to play..quite a treat. Jake asked him to sign a couple of LP's, including Armchair Boogie..an all time favorite and our gateway to his music...Thanks to John Dietrich for turning us on to him.
We also had a chance to visit Three Tides/Marshal Wharf Brewing for the after party...5 stars..a triple buy it!

As you can see up above we have added a new music player and email list sign up option...Both are much easier to for us to manage and hopefully nicer for the folks who decide to use them. We plan to have unreleased and live tracks available from time to time with the new player and for the new email list it allows you to check the info we have and change/update it if you feel the need..including unsubscribing is very easy. If you've signed up in the past it may be worth it to confirm our list is accurate and in fact has your email. We like to ask for city/state info too so we are not for example, sending folks in California, announcements for our Maine dates etc. Though if you don't mind getting an extra email or two you can leave that info out. As a whole though we try to keep the emails to a minimum....We hope you are well and that we'll see you soon..First show of 2011 is coming soon.

The last stop of the "Hosea saves the day tour" is @ Pete's Candy Store in Brooklyn, NY tonight the 9th of March...Tell some friends and make it a good one.
Speaking of good ones, the other night in Winston-Salem @ the Garage we had such a good time. Great venue with excellent sound and a very nice local crowd...we felt very welcomed and at home in that town and on that stage. We were also very fortunate to share the stage with Amy LaVere and her group. They put on a kick ass show and are fine folks to boot. Keep an eye out for them.

Two Places at once...

Knoxville TN....Blue Plate Special/Preservation Pub

So since I last wrote many things have happened...All good things I might add. We spent a few more days at the True/False Film Festival and that was a total blast...great event put on by wonderful people. Thank you Kim, Paul, David and everyone else that makes the fest run so smoothly. Were already looking forward to next year.
Last night we stayed with some good folks in central Tennessee for a nice night off with catching up, very tasty food, local spirit, and some fun pickin...Thanks so much Trapper, Mandy and Piper.
And finally this morning we got to play live on WDVX out of Knoxville TN as part of their Blue Plate Special radio show. This is such a fun show to be on. It's in front of a live audience and broadcast live...We shared the stage today with Tift Merritt, who is awesome and the show is hosted by a fine fella by the name of Matt Morelock. Well run show and it was honor to be apart of it. We finish up this Wednesday at Knoxvilles own Presevation Pub...see ya

True/False Film Festival- Day two

Quick run down...
Favorite local burgers for lunch-Booches, then soundtrack workshop. Our show of the day was an hour long set at the Reality Bites event incuding great food and beer. Then back to the Artisian for Lazy 6....Wow!!!......then on to another event featuring Mucca Pazza....some wicked night I'll tell ya.

The True/False Film Festival...

This is one well put together festival...with an extremely fun atmosphere. It's so good to be here. We played three sets last night that all went well. For the first two we opened up for a couple of films, first was "My Mother's Garden"and next was "Please Vote for Me"...basically we play for 20 minutes or so while folks find their seats then the movie starts. The final set we played was part of the Box Office Bash in which we opened up for Baby Gramps a "well seasoned solo performer"...This was a treat, he is very good...

East Saint Louis...

Yes that's right we made it to East Saint Louis today...In the van..9+hours of driving and it was pretty smooth, not 100% but pretty good. It looks like Hosea saved the day. We will put it through a few more paces getting to Columbia tomorrow. Time to rest up for True/False.
P.s. thanks to Joan and Phil for putting us up and for the wonderful meals including the excellent lasagna last night...

Slippery Rock and van update

So last night was a very fun time up in Slippery Rock at the Northern Brewing Company...great food, excellent beer and service with an enthusiastic crowd...what more could you ask for...we left happy.
The "D-Van" update- We talked to Hosea this morning and he's still working away on the van, which he thinks will be ready this afternoon. It seems Splinter got a bad batch of plugs recently which in turn gave it a bad case of "gas" so to speak. So bad in fact, these explosive internal rumblings blew a hole right thru the top of the muffler. We will be taking a test drive as soon we get it back and hope it's all good...Then on to Columbia MO for the True/False Film Festival....yesah

The Tour goes on...

We made it to the Pittsburgh area last night as we prepare for Slippery Rock tonight. Our travels have been a bit bumpy. Our van "Splinter" has been a bit under the weather since we started this journey. Lagging and Backfiring( think the sound of Jake banging on the suitcase in short powerful bursts)....Splinter has been most annoyed with the steep highway inclines of western NY and PA. The symptoms got so bad on our way to Ithaca NY we decided to give Splinter a break and leave him at the Wilkes-Barre International Airport. We rented a Dodge Caravan to get to the show just in time for soundcheck. The show was worth our struggles. We shared the bill with the Chicken Chokers, who are an amazing band ( If you don't have there album, you should get it...It's so good). We also ended the night all playing together and that was such a treat...we look forward to making it happen again. Anyway that's it for now, I'll report more after tonight's show and after we get a report from Hosea the local car doctor.......p.s. Mike DeVellis and his group Worange Drexler rocked/funked our world in NYC Friday night, but good.

New London Rocks

We played the Bank Street Cafe in New London, CT tonight and it was so much fun. We shared the bill with Honey Wagon and the Weird Beards...very good stuff. We hope to come back soon.
